Night

When the sun sets, the reef changes completely.
Many daytime fish disappear into crevices, bury themselves in the sand or settle down to sleep, while nocturnal hunters emerge from their hiding places. A night dive reveals a very different side of Caribbean marine life.

Night Hunters & Feeders

Squirrelfish · Soldierfish · Bigeyes · Moray Eels · Porcupinefish · Grunts · Lionfish

Bijvoorbeeld bij Grunts:

During the day they gather in schools around the reef. After dark, they spread out over sandy bottoms and seagrass beds to feed.

🌅 Dusk & Dawn

Sommige soorten worden vooral rond zonsondergang actief. Dat overgangsmoment is biologisch heel interessant.

Lionfish · some Moray Eels · various predatory reef fish
